Hot Hot Pink!

Saturday, September 26, 2009
Mama loves hot pink. She LOVES it! So many cute ways to wear it! A totally under-loved color in my book! Here's what I wore for a hot pink look earlier this week (Thursday?) (PS...I need new glasses! These are super old...I only need them for driving and class though)

What I wore:
Allure by Jen Starlet shadow- magenta pink with HOT pink shimmer
Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita in Morbid Curiosity- smoked berries and plums with a multidimensional silvery green midtone
Mum Mum's Puff Pink- matte baby pink
UD 24/7 in Zero- black
Allure by Jen Gypsy eyeliner- black with red/pink sparkles
Revlon Pink Pout- matte lavender pink
Allure by Jen Plum Blush- pinky purple plum
.
So, I reviewed Revlon Pink Pout awhile ago and said I basically hated it. Well, I hated it on me. Strange how that changes over time, right? I love it now! My lips are finally healing from their mid-summer crackings :D (I'm almost positive this is due to Aromaleigh's aromatherapy balm, but not sure). I have another look coming where I wore it too!
.
Oh and Morbid Curiosity (which I wore in the crease) is one of my ultimate Aromaleigh fave colors. Seriously! I made a cute lil Polyvore about it here.

I was trying out a few new Allure by Jen products. Starlet is a great bright pink shadow that I love. It's layerable, which is nice, but it only takes a couple brushes to get bright enough. (I hate those "layerable" shadows that you need 20 coats to make the color!). Plum is a really great blush...not for those "natural" blush girls, this is an unusual color that looks amazing on. Really I would have never thought to use a bright plummy blush!

Puff Pink all over eye. Starlet in inner vee and all over lid. Morbid Curiosity in crease. Zero liner and Gypsy on top.
Yes! These are my sparkly bow ballet slippers I got from Kohls like 4 years ago! They are falling apart but I lurve them TO DEATH :D
.
So whaddya think? Are you girls fans of hot pink?

EAM 2009 Emmy Collection Review

Friday, September 25, 2009
Photo taken from website!
The owner of Earth Angel Minerals was contacted a few weeks ago to do an Emmy Collection for some swag bags....How cool is that for a small company? Be sure to start snatching up her goodies now! You can say you "found" her before she got huge, and (believe me!) she will!

I decided to try this collection out a few nights ago...It was probably close to 4am, so the pics aren't the greatest!
.
The "uses" come straight from the sample baggies...I thought that was a cute touch :D A little insert tells the story of each of the color's names.

Hall of Fame Eye Color - soft, slight matte puff pink
-Uses: This is perfect to use as a highlight under the brow bone, also use as a base shadow color. This has just a touch of shimmer, semi-matte.
-What I think: Divine! I used it as a highlight and it was really pretty...I would have never though to use a pinky matte color there, but it gives color without competing with the rest of your eyecolor

Trailblazer Eye Color - greenish greyish color with slight golden tint
-Uses: Contour color. Eye liner! Use wet (foiled) or dry! Nails! For dramatic liner, use wet; smoky look, use dry.
-What I think: A nice green. I used it in the outer vee

Sandy Peach Eye Color- peachy tan shimmer
-Uses: Use as a highlight color under the brow bone & base shadow color. Mix with your favorite lip balm for a great everyday lip color!
-What I think: I used it as a lip color and I really loved it! A very nice peachy neutral...not too light or dark.

Ms. Emm Eye Color- BRIGHT shimmering gold
-What I think: The most perfect, sparkling, shimmering gold. It feels luxurious and glam! Used in the inner vee. *Drool*

Glamour Girl Eye Color- dusty plum
-Uses: Contour color. Eye liner! Use wet (foiled) or dry! Nails! For dramatic liner, use wet; smoky look, use dry.
-What I think: Lovely color, I used it as a liner foiled. While its not that special when its dry, it turns into a shimmery plum when wet that really pops!

Pink Magnolia Blush, All Over Face Color- pinky brown mauve
-Uses: Use as a blush, or all over face color. If you love a mauve pink eye color, try as a contour/liner color!
-What I think: As a blush, I really liked it. Not as warm as it looks. I can't wait to try it as an eye color!
Overall: A very wearable, nice collection! You can create tons of different looks with these! If I could only have one? I'd go with Ms. Emm!

Gus is the new Paul Mitchell!

Wednesday, September 23, 2009
Hey did you guys know that all of those pictures of "Paul Mitchell" (you know with his wife and kid) isn't really Paul Mitchell? It's actually this guy John Paul DeJoria...Paul Mitchell died of cancer back in 1989. They were partners when they started. I wrote a paper on them in beauty school! I hear bad things about John DeJoria, like he's a huge fame whore. Yeah, I can see that.

Anyhoo! I'm sure everyone is curious about my new Gus-inflicted hairstyle! I actually dyed it right after he bit it since I was so embarrassed! I was using Manic Panic, but it's so damn frustrating because its only demi perm (it lasts 2-3 weeks). I decided to go to an old standby color placement of mine...Light roots (my actual hair color is very light so this makes it less noticable) and dark ends. I sort of blend the two together so there isn't a line of anything and I can easily do this myself in the bathroom! I used So Color in 8CC (copper copper) with 20 vol on my roots about 5 inches down and then a mix of 5RC (red copper) and 6RR (red red) with 10 vol on the ends. No one probably knows what I'm talking about haha this is mostly for my own reference!! Basically I threw on some random hair dye that was in my house!

I couldn't get a real good picture of the color....but here is a few silly ones---
Gus eating a grape! He makes the silliest faces when he eats fruit :P Look at that itty bitty tongue!!
*monch monch monch*
This is about 4 inches that he ate. He slurped it like spaghetti...it happened so fast! Gus HATES when I hold him like this! He's all pissed off in this pic. He's my lil munchkin! For reals, guinea pigs are like tiny dogs except a lot cheaper and easier to take care of! Gus actually weighs more than my brother's chihuahua Fiona! They average about 3 pounds or so. Piggles (our other nugget) is sort of pudgy all around but Gus is REDONK and just has a fat butt. He's pear shaped like this mom!
We went to Pat Catans (a craft store) last night so I could buy some felt and sequins (and a whole bunch of other crap!). We found these awesome hats for $2 each! It was so funny, we wore them all night! Sorry for the whole looking like crap thing, my makeup was smeared all over my eyes but these pics were too funny NOT to post!! Look at my husband's sad puppy eyes...too cute!
So not makeup related!

Chubby Mascaras...Maybelline Colossal vs. CG Lash Blast

Tuesday, September 22, 2009
This is just a quickie review I threw together after trying Colossal and Lash Blast.

Lash Blast thoughts-
-fatty, plastic bristle brush (some may find this too large for them)
-Makes my lashes darker
-Gives more color coverage
-Can get clumpy
-thicker texture
-very even finish, coats lashes more uniformly
.
Colossal Volum' Express thoughts-
-classic hair brush
-thinner texture
-not a whole lot of color coming out
-sort of "everywhere" application, I got a few thick, dark ones and a few still blond, didn't even touch ones
-flakes off
.
Overall? I'm not really feeling the Colossal mascara. I will continue using it, but it's just another Maybelline FAIL for me.
.
Take a look at the pics ...
So, if you don't mind a big fatty brush, Lash Blast is TONS better than Colossal! Have you tried either of these? Which one do you like better?

Aromaleigh Gothic Loli EotD & OH EM GEE...my guinea pig ATE my bangs!!

Monday, September 21, 2009
Yeah. He did. Why, oh why did I think it was funny he climbed on my head?! Why didn't I grab him as soon as I even THOUGHT I heard monching?? And, most of all, WHY DIDN'T MY HUSBAND STOP HIM (since Rob knows I get into all sorts of shenanigans)???
.
There will not be a picture today of this catastrophy! I'm still much too traumatized. Silly Gus ate the part of my bangs right where they split off to one side so there is no hiding it. I was trying to grow them out, but I guess I will have to cut them. I couldn't yell at him though since apparently guinea pigs do this (called barbering) when they really love someone!! Aww!! I wish Gus would, like, I don't know, give me a kiss or something instead of eating my hair though!!
.
Alright, enough of that (for now...). Here's my Saturday look!

What I used:
-Earth Angel Minerals Refresh Eye Brightener
-Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita in Aqua Nightmare- Technicolor bright aqua pearl sheen with divinely bright aqua sparks (LOVE this when foiled!!)
-Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita in Violet Ruffle- Violet with lush silvery glow and complex periwinkle and rose tones
-Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita in Wonderland- Lush multi-tonal greyish/taupe with coppery pink spark (not as silvery as it looks in the bag)
-UD 24/7 liner in Zero- black
-Loreal Hip cream shadow in Secretive- nude shimmer
-Aromaleigh Indelible eyeliner sealant
-Allure by Jen blush in Innocence- glowing pink (a bit of a peachy tone to it)
-Allure by Jen lippie in Dusty Rose- pink colored lipstick that has beautiful dusky undertones (on me, this is sort of a pinky mauve with awesome GREEN shimmer! totally unique and fab and amazing and I love it!)
.
Basically everything I used here (well at least the sealant, Allure by Jen & EAM products) will have seperate reviews in another post. And (gasp!) I found yet another Allure by Jen product thats a Holy Grail for me! Well, maybe two...I've been looking for a lipcolor like this forever (and was unable to make my own) and the blush is so pretty...just a tinge of bright pinkness!
.
This is a lot of eye products for me! I used EAM Refresh and then Secretive on top for a super-stay-forever base. Wonderland on lid, Violet Ruffle in crease, Aqua nightmare (foiled with AL sealant) lining top and bottom in sort of an odd pattern. I really liked this, it was totally fun and bright! You can't really see the green in the lippie here :o(

I had a lot of fun on Saturday. We went out to a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant (which wasn't as good as our normal hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant!) and then went to my sister in law's house for a bonfire. I actually drank (which I NEVER do, not even at my wedding!) and I had some Smirnoff Ice Mango thing and it was SO YUMMY! Back when I was like 12 and drinking (yeah...bad pre-teen Lisa!) nothing ever tasted that good. Seriously, couldn't even taste the booze! I didn't get drunk or anything but it was still a fun time. Then we got home, Rob made some potato skins (frozen, of course, not like the yummy kind Katie makes!) and we watched Borat. Very fun!
.
Have you used Aromaleigh's Gothic Lolita collection? Mama loves! And I finally figured out what color aqua was haha!
